Why Laser Hair Reduction?
The old fashioned ways of removing hair - shaving, tweezing, creams and waxing - are time consuming and don't last. And, although electrolysis can permanently remove hair, it is an extremely slow and painful method. But you don't have to settle for out-of-date solutions. Now you can obtain long-lasting results with laser hair removal treatments. Permanent hair reduction is a safe and effective way to reduce unwanted body and facial hair.

Is Laser Hair Removal Safe?
Laserscope technology is FDA cleared for permanent hair reduction on all skin types, including very fair skin and olive or African-American skin. Treatments are most effective on medium to dark hair on any skin type. Fine and light hair is very difficult to treat. Blonde, red, white and gray hair cannot be treated.

What Can I Expect During Laser Hair Treatment?
Your physician might apply a topical anesthetic to help make the treatment more comfortable. Most patients feel a warm sting as the laser penetrates the hair follicle. Many people describe the sensation as the snap of a rubber band against their skin. To minimize the discomfort, a cool gel is applied to the skin before treatment. The Laserscope systems are equipped with a cooled sapphire window to further cool the surface of the skin while allowing laser light to heat the hair follicle beneath the skin.

How Many Laser Hair Removal Treatments are Needed?
Laser treatments impair the growth capacity of the hair follicles when they are in the active growth stage. Not all follicles are active at the same time and several treatments, every few weeks, may be necessary to obtain the desired result. The number of treatments needed to achieve hair reduction varies. Most patients experience a marked reduction in hair growth in 5 to 8 treatments. Additionally, other factors such as hair density, age and hormones can affect the results of your treatments.

What Can I Expect Following Each Laser Hair Treatment?
Once your treatment session is complete, you are free to resume your normal routine. Some patients might experience a slight redness in the treated area. This should resolve in a day or two. Avoid sun exposure and use sunscreen following any laser treatment. Immediately after treatment, hair follicles might seem to grow for one to two weeks. Typically these are lifeless hairs and they will fall out quite easily.

Who Would Be Appropriate For Laser Vein Treatment?
Treatments are effective for most individuals, including those with darker or tanned skin. Treatments work best on smaller veins. Consult with your physician to determine if your veins are appropriate for treatment.

How Does the Laser Vein Treatment Work?
Laser light is delivered through the skin and into the vein. After heating, the vein walls collapse and seal shut. The sealed vein is then broken down and absorbed by the body.

What Can I Expect During Laser Vein Treatment?
You will start by meeting with your physician to discuss the treatment and your medical history. After your consultation, a thin layer of gel will be applied to the skin. The laser handpiece will be directed over the subject vein, which will, in many cases, disappear after a single pass.

Is the Laser Vein Treatment Painful?
Discomfort varies depending on the size and location of the vein. Many describe each laser pulse as feeling like the snap of a rubber band against the skin. As there can be moderate discomfort, your physician may offer an anesthetic gel to help reduce the pain.

What Can I Expect Following Each Laser Vein Treatment?
In some cases, the treated region will be slightly swollen and tender to the touch for a day or two. A red mark, resembling a "cat scratch", can sometimes persist for a few weeks. After treatment you may be asked to avoid heavy exercise and wear sunscreen. Your physician will provide more detailed instructions following treatment.

How Long Do the Laser Vein Treatments Take?
Leg vein sessions can take about 30 minutes depending on the size of the treatment area. While some patients may be satisfied after just one treatment, two or more treatments may be needed to achieve desired results.

How Long Do the Laser Vein Results Last?
The appearance of existing veins will be diminished or completely eliminated. However, the development of new veins cannot be prevented. If your body has an underlying vascular problem, you may need additional treatments.

Why Should I Have My Leg Veins Treated with a Laser?
Treatments quickly and effectively remove smaller leg veins with little pain or downtime.

What Causes Frown Lines Between the Brows?
The lines that appear between your brows actually result from muscle movement and the passage of time. When powerful muscles between the brows contract, they draw the brows together, causing the skin to fold or furrow. As skin becomes less elastic with age, those folds or furrows result in stubborn lines. Because frown lines are dynamic lines caused by overactive muscles, they can usually be treated with tiny injections of BOTOX® Cosmetic. Static lines, on the other hand, are lines that are visible even when the muscles are at rest. These lines are usually treated with a filler, such as JUVEDERM™ injectable gel.

How does BOTOX® Cosmetic Work?
During treatment, very low doses of BOTOX® Cosmetic are administered via a few tiny injections directly into the muscles responsible for frown lines between the brows. By blocking the release of a chemical that causes these muscles to contract, BOTOX® Cosmetic enables them to relax. The effects are very localized and, when administered by an experienced physician, do not affect your ability to smile, laugh, or otherwise show expression. BOTOX® Cosmetic is the only product of its kind that has been approved for use in this area.

What are the Common Side Effects of BOTOX®?
The most common side effects following injection include temporary eyelid droop and nausea. Localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding/bruising may be associated with the injection. Patients with certain neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, myasthenia gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome may be at increased risk of serious side effects.

Is There Any Chance of Serious Side Effects?
Serious heart problems and serious allergic reactions have been reported rarely. If you think you're having an allergic reaction or other unusual symptoms, such as difficulty swallowing, speaking, or breathing, call your doctor immediately.

What is BOTOX® Treatment Like?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a quick and minimally invasive procedure consisting of a few tiny injections. Your doctor will determine exactly where to administer these injections to achieve the best results for you. No anesthesia is required, though he or she may choose to numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream prior to injecting. The entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes, and there is no downtime afterward. Discomfort is minimal and brief. Localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding/bruising may be associated with the injection.

How Soon Will I See a Difference?
You can expect to see results within days after your treatment, and the appearance of the area between your brows may continue to improve for up to a week. By day 30 in a phase 3 clinical study, 89% of patients judged the severity of their frown lines between their brows as moderate or better. Visible results have been shown to last up to 4 months. After that, many patients are ready to return for a follow-up treatment. Your own results may vary-be sure to talk to your doctor about what you can expect.

How do I Know if BOTOX® is Right For Me?
If you are between the ages of 18 and 65 with moderate to severe frown lines between your brows, you may be a candidate for BOTOX® Cosmetic. Ask your doctor if BOTOX® Cosmetic is right for you.
